ROC Woking is a new community organisation working across the Town in partnership with others in three areas of activity – Social Isolation and Loneliness, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Youth. Woking Phone Friends is a befriending service run through the social isolation and loneliness action group. Volunteers are paired with clients who are referred, or self refer, for a phone chat every week or so. The Volunteer Facilitator is the coordinating role which manages the recruitment and training of volunteers and liaises with referrers. It is a key, pivotal role currently being undertaken by a member of the steerin group, and which would benefit from a dedicated volunteer in post instead.
