Reconnections Volunteer

You’ll get to know a local over-65 and support them to get involved in new activities, interest groups and make friends. You’ll be matched based on your interests and location and have regular contact from Reconnections to support you both. We’ll ask just one hour a week of you at first and it can easily slot in with your other commitments. The application process is very simple and a member of the Reconnections team will be on hand to guide you through it.

The purpose of Reconnections is to introduce volunteers to people who are local and feeling lonely in order to help them to re-engage with things in their community. We work with people for around 6 months and in that time measure their loneliness so that when the 6 months is over, we hope they have built up social connections and resilience that will keep loneliness at bay. So we’re more than your typical befriending service in that we proactively encourage and support people to get back involved with their community.
