Kleinwort Ward Helper

Based on a non-acute short term rehabilitation ward for patients aged over 18, with the aim of preventing unnecessary hospital admissions, supporting timely discharges from the acute hospitals and providing palliative care.

Role involves:

  • Befriending, talking, reading and listening to patients
  • Playing cards, bingo etc.
  • Using the Dementia Activity software available on the ward
  • Bed making
  • Assisting with photocopying etc.
  • Assisting with teas/coffees
  • Assisting the therapy groups which include crafts, gardening, discussion groups etc.
  • Completing productive ward feedback questionnaires with patients

The minimum commitment for this role is six months after training.

Skills

No formal qualifications are required. You must be a people person, flexible, willing to use own initiative, good listener, non- judgmental, reliable and honest.
