Junior School Governor

The role of the school governor is demanding but very rewarding and is a great way to be involved in the local community.

Governors play a pivotal role in planning and monitoring throughout the year and we are looking to find local skills, expertise and commitment to ensure strong and effective governance and provide the best education for our pupils.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help children’s education whilst gaining an insight into the education sector and becoming part of an outstanding school with exceptional results which is dedicated to raising standards, opportunities and enjoyment for children.

Key roles include: To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and direction; to hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; to oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent; to report back through regular meetings to Perryfields Enterprise Academy Trust.

No specific qualifications are required.  Induction and regular training and development are provided, and Governors need to have the time to read and understand data, policies and documents in preparation for committee meetings.

Access to and the ability to use a computer are essential as all information is sent out via email. More important than specific qualifications are the commitment to playing an active part as a member of a professional team, to provide challenging questions whilst listening to and respecting the views of others and to maintain a strictly confidential approach.

All applicants are asked to fill out a skills audit which includes self evaluation of any Governance or Trust experience as well as knowledge or experience in Human Resources, Finance, Law, PR, and Education.
