The purpose of this Volunteer role is to provide "Front of house" support for the ACE Adult Weight Management My Weight Matters Programme
Anglian Community Enterprise (ACE) is commissioned by Essex County Council to provide Tier 2 weight management programmes.
The service is community-based and designed to support people to achieve a gradual, long term weight loss by weighing in at a variety of community sites, accessing the MWM online programme. We care about treating everybody with kindness, dignity and respect at all times. Interventions provided are in accordance with evidence-based practice and national guidelines.
The service is widely promoted to health professionals and the general public through promotional campaigns, social media and traditional media. Referrals are received and triaged via our helpline (0800 022 4524 option 3) or online at www.acelifestyle.co.uk.
We currently have a clinic running on a Wednesday in Epping and Loughton and considering other areas of Epping Forest District.
What you will be doing:
Meeting and greeting clients, offering a warm and friendly welcome to the session
Explaining how the programme works to new clients
Weighing clients & recording for client's and ACE Lifestyles records
Handing out relevant supporting materials (leaflets, hand-outs etc.)
Keeping a register of attendance
Helping to order resources and keep the My Weight Matters resource box adequately stocked
Generally help organise the session
We are looking for someone who:
Knows their own limits re: skills, competencies and responsibilities and work within them
Is able to follow the programme content and resist imposing their own personal thoughts and feelings. Consistency is key!
Is able to accurately record all relevant information
Is a good listener and able to communicate with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
Is able to encourage and motivate those who find themselves in challenging situations.
Demonstrates the ability to work independently using own initiative
Able to maintain confidentiality at all times
Able to identify, assess and manage risks
Motivated and positive outlook
