Complementary Therapist Volunteers

As a member of the Well-being Team you'll carry out Complimentary Therapies which have been agreed with your team manager and in accordance with Farleigh Hospice policies.

What you'll do

  • Carry out Complementary Therapy treatments with patients, carers and bereaved in line with Farleigh Hospice policies and procedures.
  • Be aware of the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, care and current condition.
  • Be aware of contraindications or precautions in relation to the therapy(ies) that you practise and be able to adapt a treatment accordingly.
  • Complete the required case documentation.
  • Provide feedback, including any adverse effects, to the patient’s Key Worker and the Well-being Team Co-ordinator.
  • Participate in clinical supervision with the Well-being Team Co-ordinator as agreed.

Skills

Volunteers must have a recognised qualification in the therapy(ies) they wish to practice and hold current registration with a recognised professional body.  Significant recent post qualification professional practice is also required, along with own Public Liability Insurance.
