Carers Telephone Support (Call-Back Service)

Caring can sometimes become very isolating, so hearing a friendly voice can help to relieve this. The Telephone Call Back Service offers support to carers in their own home who are isolated due to their caring role, giving them an opportunity to share anything they want to talk about with an understanding listener. The service provides a confidential and an understanding listening ear for carers to share their feelings and concerns in a supportive and non-judgemental way.

The role involves:-

Monthly phone support to carers who have been referred to our Emotional Support Team.

Identification of any carer needs i.e.: Support Groups, Events, Learning & Wellbeing Programme, Equipment for Independence Scheme, and the CSWS Carer Response Line for additional information and support.

Understanding and complying with Safeguarding Policy and Procedures and undertaking regular training to keep up to date with any changes in policy and procedures.

Observing strict confidentiality regarding information obtained during the course of this role.

Skills

Active listening, and excellent & effective communication. An insight into issues carers face on a daily basis. An empathetic caring approach when engaging with others. To be non-judgemental and be able to maintain personal boundaries. To encourage and promote carer health and wellbeing. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Access Computer Systems.
